About Damascus Public Library

The Damascus Library branch opened its doors in October 2010. Serving a population of 306 patrons it is located in the Southside-Bee Branch Public School district and Van Buren County. Damascus, Arkansas was the site of the nuclear “Broken Arrow” incident September 18-19, 1980, when a Titan missile exploded and is the heart of the book written by Eric Schlosser, “Command and Control: Nuclear weapons, the Damascus Accident and Illusion of Safety.
